Sadie Takes Her Fight to the Big Apple

Lantana’s Sadie Keller made an appearance on Fox News Sunday with Texas Congressman Mike McCaul (R-TX). She and Rep. McCaul discussed childhood cancer and what the government needs to do to help these children get the research and funding they need.

“Childhood cancer only gets 4% funding from government I think that’s horrible,” said ten year-old Sadie. “Kids shouldn’t have to go through that.”

Sadie went on to talk about how having childhood cancer has made her a better person because she’s shared that experience and she loves to help others now.

McCaul’s best friend in elementary school died of leukemia so this cause is important to him. He founded and chaired the Childhood Cancer Caucus to give these children a voice in Congress since they don’t have lobbyists and special interest groups to help them.

After meeting Sadie he knew he’d found his best advocate.

“This is a special girl in my life and many others because of her attitude,” he told Fox News. “She is so positive, taking a bad experience and turning it into something positive is really the life lesson for all of us. She’s the best lobbyist we have.”

Sadie also talked to the host about her “Sadie’s Sleigh” toy drive which is now in its third year working to hit her lofty goal of 10,000 toys for four hospitals in the DFW area. For information on how you can help, go to
