Guyer Well Represented on Baseball/Softball All-District Teams

by Steve Gamel

It’s no secret that Guyer has been saddled with one of the toughest Class 6A districts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area – maybe the state – since the latest realignment. This year’s baseball and softball season was no different, yet the Wildcats earned the respect of
competing coaches.

The District 6-6A All-District teams were announced in June for baseball and softball, and though neither Guyer team earned a superlative honor, they still had plenty of athletes make the list.

In baseball, the Wildcats had seven players between first and second team. First teamers included pitcher J.T. Thompson, and third baseman Devin Mars, while Cade Branum, Wyatt Gaines, Morgan Allen, Connor Herriage and Garrett Ozmer all made second team.

Guyer made playoffs in a district that included Allen and the Plano schools. The Wildcats lost in the first round to Marcus.

Though the Lady Wildcat softball team did not make the postseason, a trio of standouts led the way as Morgan Medford, Sylvia Murillo, and Maddy Holder all made the list.

Below is the full lists for baseball and softball, as reported by the Denton Record-Chronicle.
