Guyer Basketball Dominates District 6-6A All-District Teams

by Steve Gamel

The Guyer boys and girls basketball teams dominated their respective District 6-6A all-district teams last month, including the boys, who were co-champs of their league and regarded as one of the top teams in the state.

Sophomore De’Vion Harmon was the district’s co-most valuable player with McKinney’s EJ Clark. He was the Wildcats’ lone superlative honor other than head coach Grant Long, who was named coach of the year. Overall, Guyer had five players, including Harmon, make the all-district team. Teammates Grayson Carter and Jalen Wilson were on the first team while Jake Roberts and Le’tre Darthard came in on the second team.

On the girls’ side, the Lady Wildcats’ Lauren Heard was named MVP despite playing for a team that did not qualify for the playoffs. Heard, a TCU signee, averaged nearly 25 points per game and just more than four steals per game.
The only other Guyer player to make the all-district team was Sydney Meador, who was a second-team selection.
